I have been playing FIFA for 19 years - so I like the new FIFA 22

Mitfifa 22 starts a new football season on the virtual lawn. MeinmMo author Max craft was allowed to let off steam and undergo FIFA 22 a test: what has changed compared to its predecessor?

For me, the new FIFA release always feels a bit like the start of a new Bundesliga season. You look at: What does the favorite club do? Is there a new coach? Are reasonable new players brought? And above all: keep the new obligations what they promise?

Now there is basically two possible extremes:

The new arrivals are beating. The first games are won. In the table it looks great and good mood is wide. I believe, Bayern fans feel every season (always gaining certainly difficult). Or, as it is the case with my favorite club (sob): you are committed to many interesting names, but the whole thing is not right. The team stumbles in the first plays unhappy about the place, which violates a real service provider and the fan mood slips exactly like the club in the table in the basement.

The question is: where on the scale between these extremes is FIFA 22? Can new additions like hypermotion convince? Were weaknesses of the old season be promised? Maybe there is a surprising talent - or does it look more like a descent season?

I was allowed to test the game for a few days in the PS5 version.

Take the obvious once in advance: This year, FIFA 22 does not reinvent the wheel. Much resembles FIFA 21. But there are some interesting points that delimit the new access in the FIFA series from its predecessor. We ll take a closer look at that.

Who writes here? MeinMMo author Max crafts have been playing virtual football games since FIFA World Cup 2002 and spent a lot of time with FIFA, Ultimate Team, Volta & Co. in recent years, with Meinmmo treated the FIFA Series since 2018.

Hypermotion in the test - The Toni Kroos of the FIFA 22 Gameplay

Hypermotion was the big keyword when it came to FIFA 22. On the basis of Motion Capturing, more than 4,000 new animations should provide together with features such as a revised AI for the most realistic FIFA. Did it work out?

Again, there is a football comparison, at least after a few days. There are players that are important for a team elementary. And that, although you do not necessarily notice that as a spectator.

Toni Kroos is such a player. Praised by coaches and players, celebrated for his personal security, showered with titles. His presence is crucial in parts and details of the game, which can be seen as a viewer barely - and then you underestimate the man. But always reappoints situations, such as precise in the angle sailed free kick, in which one thinks: Ah yes, the Kroos. Clear. Krasser player.

This is how it behaves with hypermotion.

It may not be extremely on every second of the match, but the new animations, the new Ki, the new ball physics: all these things make the gameplay better. Or: more realistic.

The slightly slower, build-up pathway is a progress and more likely to see what you can see on real places. At least in the first few days, even in Ultimate Team Matches have developed that really looked after football.

There are greatly useful strikers such as Lukaku or immobile and will not be unusable immediately because they are simply too slow. If the passport is weak, the chic, new banana flank does not fly to the player, but in. Is the physique of the defender bad, the Lukaku does not push from the ball. And the common defensive chain will not simply be killed because the striker is eight times so fast, but solves the whole thing about a clever position game.

The whole thing is the whole of small animations that you only see if you really pay attention (or you look at in the repetition again in slow motion).

That may not be the newfitting of the wheel, which some may have hoped for. But after FIFA 21 was increasingly determined by the values Speed and Skill Moves in the course of the season, I definitely look forward to a gameplay where matches are not only decided who runs faster or trick. So football does not work, and FIFA should not do that either.

But, and you have to hold that: Already in the past few years, FIFA seemed shortly after releaser as a realistic football match - until then elements such as patches or crazy special cards with fierce speed values made sure that first impressions changed.

It remains therefore only used to hope that EA with Hypermotion and the new AI can ensure that this is in FIFA 22 rather the scale holds, as in the past.

Equally important: The NextGen version has an advantage over the older generation here. I can not evaluate how the game looks similar to the PS4 currently unfortunately. But already last year, the jump to the new generation was noticeable by elements such as better graphics or the new GameCam .

Goalkeeper - The stars of the new gameplay ?

The goalkeeper in FIFA 22 deserve to be listed separately. Because while you noticed the new animations in the field players only sporadically, one sees in the keepers felt every two minutes something fresh. Sky, may hold the suddenly balls.

The course can be frustrating and liked to put me in the last days times to the brink of insanity. Since I play for me a nice opportunity to score, failing only to an absolute killer parade. From some players there have been criticisms of this.

But: Overall, I think the revision for a major step forward. Goalkeeper prevent the real football now time that games do not constantly go out 23 to 48 or so.

In FIFA 21, the keeper appeared extras that you could play with two or three relatively simple moves bit. In FIFA 22, they are a challenge in itself.

I m curious to see how this issue develops. Because parts of the community feel that the keeper just as much too strong, while others celebrate the new goalkeeper.

Depending on how the feedback fails in the end, it would at least conceivable that reaches here a patch and the keeper makes a bit more relaxed. but that s just speculation - and I personally hope that the goalkeeper first remain at their current level.

Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Volta - What do the different modes ?

During the tests I looked more closely I modes FUT, career and Volta once. All three have a few tweaks to offer.

restructured once well known - Ultimate Team

What I have described above in terms of gameplay, is also noticeable in Ultimate Team. In the first days the games ran buttery soft and there were hardly any problems. However, even that has been shown in recent years: Here you have to wait and see how it develops, if more people on the servers are.

The old problem in FUT will continue to exist: Who is real money in the mode has the advantage. Finally, depending on the investment, get a lot of FUT coins with the players from packs. The gambling aspect of the packs will also remain questionable.

On the positive side, however, to mention that the preview packs are back - and apparently permanently. So you can see every day whether perhaps a worthwhile Pack is in the shop. For players like me who FUT just play without investing real money, which is an important change.

In recent years, is also a good strong players on rewards, goals or SBCs could get. These things take time and then take longer to throw as easy money in the shop. It is not, as some streamers, racing from the start with Ronaldo and Co. about the place - unless you have extremely lucky.

But at least I m optimistic that it will be possible again this year, with the help of zusammenzubekommen Trading and rewards a good team.

the change in the structure of the Rewards Weekend League and Division Rivals is interesting in that respect as well. Which is to assess only partially after the first days, there was not enough time to qualify for Champions FUT - the first weekend League, incidentally, does not start until the 08th of October.

However, it seems as if one could certainly act stressful in terms of rewards. Parts of the FUT champions will now run during the week, so you are not forced to follow through on the weekend. This should for players who also have other obligations or weekend plans, be a welcome addition.

In addition, you can have about the games during the week earning rewards. So you can at least to some Champions Rewards come, even if you can not play at the weekend. However, the qualification process works first lengthy. Here are the first few weeks remain to be seen.

Volta surprised with fun

Volta is the surprise of the year for me. That may act crazy because the mode has been so irrelevant in recent years. But this year he has adopted a new identity for me: Volta is the place where you can easily spend a few fun hours with his friends.

PVMer vs DEADMAN Ep.5 Finale: I risked EVERYTHING... until I got caught (first time playing DMM) I mean that: If I want to chat online a bit with friends, I ll glow loose games. Case Guys is such a game, or also Rocket League (to a certain degree). FIFA has not belonged so far, because online is FIFA just fight.

But in Volta Arcade there s a few game modes that are simply fun. Football tennis, wall shooting, dodgeball - 8 mini games are available to the start, and it should be more. The surprising: they just make much more joy when I expected.

While in Ultimate Team is always only on the next hit, the Volta games offer variety. Example Wallshoot: Here you just have to douze the ball to a large wall when you turn it. If you can do that, the next player must record the ball and shoot it. But there is a time limit - and who does not grab it flies out.

Accordingly, of course, everyone will try to keep the ball away from the player who is on the series. This creates an entertaining chaos on the field that is not known from other modes. In addition, the mini-games occur in quick succession successively. So it will not be monotonous.

If Fut is the Champions League, Volta is more of the Bolzplatz-Afternoon with friends. And he finally has something for himself! Here in the future to spend a few rounds, I can imagine damn well. How the whole thing looks, the trailer shows Volta:

I can only recommend that Volta definitely look in if you want to play a bit relaxed FIFA than in Ultimate Team. And who knows: Maybe Volta Arcade enthuses one then for the rest of the mode.

This is closer to FIFA Street with the new special skills , as ever before. And I used to loved that earlier. Remains only to hope that even the rest of the community comes here to the same result - and you are not looking for matches in front of an empty lobby.

But, directly two criticisms behind: Currently Arcade is only available on weekends, which I can not understand. And: In the test I could not find couch coef mode for Volta Arcade. This fun mode would simply be predestined for being played with buddies on the couch. Why this option is missing is a mystery to me.

Career mode with more personality

Over the past years, the career mode is increasingly moving in the background, which is concerned with new features. This year, the mode scores mainly with two innovations:

In the manager career you can create your own club, including coats of arms, stadium, hymn and more. In the player career, there are now more atmospheric cutscenes as well as a skill system that is almost reminiscent of a RPG.

Both features have something for themselves. Just to associate with your own club is fun and gives a more feeling to be a real manager. Who feels like to live out there, gets a lot of possibilities.

On the day of work of the career mode, on the other hand, it changes - at least as far as I could judge that in the test - not too much. Furthermore, it is important to train talents to train and win titles. This is also known from last year.

The player career, on the other hand, has surprised me well - which is simply because I have largely ignored them in recent years. But you are in the mode in the mode as a more or less newcomer, he offers a fun challenge.

To develop new skills and then see them on the square, gives a good progress feel. The struggle for the starting and fulfilling targets within the match represents tasks that one does not have in the Ultimate Team. And just just to play your own PRO, is also something different than to control the complete team.

I m not sure how durable the mode is and how long you have fun with it. But: If you have something like I have little experience with single player mode, a small jump can be worthwhile in the player career.
