The workbench is an essential tool at Animal Crossing New Horizons, as it will need it to create tools that will help you use your time on the island in the most efficient way possible. Fortunately, it will not be long before you can have it in your hands.

All you have to do is play and skip the introduction, and on your first official day on the island, go to the service store for Tom Nook residents in the middle of the island. Once inside, talk to the same Tom and throw you with DIY recipes and teach you how to use the workbench.

Inside the service store for residents, simply interact with the work bench directly behind Tom Nook by pressing the A button. Then, it will open a processing menu where you can see all the DIY recipes you have unlocked. If you have enough materials for one of these recipes, simply select it and then press the A button to start elaborating.

And that is basically everything. Once you have made your selection, your character will create the object and will be placed on your inventory. You can return here at any time to continue creating new tools and elements.
