- First of all, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?
Jack is a university student in America Ohio and is a 20-year-old game developer. He has been developing game development from a very young age, and it is certain that he downloaded the game engine called Game Maker at the age of 10 years (?). He got the Rockman series sprite and created a small game yourself. This is of course not released anywhere and made it as a hobby. When I am 16 years old, I became more seriously developed game and launched a game development team with a friend who can make music with a photo.

-Why did you start developing this work?
Jack We were making this work for a game jam originally conducted in August 2020. At that time, I just wanted to make a game that would be the last project to be the last project before admission during summer vacation before the semester of the university starts, and before the summer vacation before the Semester begins, I made a precise plan. But after all this plan failed and we did not participate in the game jam.
After that, after a few weeks, I know that there is a Halloween contest on a website, and I decided to adjust that idea to fit this Halloween contest, and the game names were also Dead Estate. When we submitted this game, we won first place in this Halloween contest. After a while, we received an offer to be contacted by Publisher (2 Left Thumbs), making it a larger scale and not released in STeam.
- Please tell me the characteristics of this work.
JACK The most characteristic point is to say that other games of the same genre are created with the aim of designing a completely different design. Many other Loglike games such as The Binding Of Isaac get small rewards by achieving tasks. For example, if you clear it using a specific character, you can get a new item.
In this work, all items and weapons will appear from the beginning. It does not seem to have a sense of accomplishment that you can get something big and get a little bit. Therefore, we aimed at the opposite direction, and the player has been able to get all from the beginning.
The only exception is unlocked characters, their costumes, and many extra levels. However, these factors think that a greater sense of achievement can be obtained when unlocked than just one item or weapon.
- What kind of person do this work do you want to play?
JACK I would like to play main work mainly in Log Like fans since ancient times. As mentioned above, there is no element to unlock items and weapons and strengthen the character. I said that everything comes from the beginning of the game. Therefore, there is no permanent progression (item and ability up to be much more advantageous) in this work.
This means that, unlike many Log Like, this work is more player itself. There is no one to unlock a lot of items and weapons to clear, and you have to be stronger players themselves to clear.
Actually, I have been far from this genre for a while, and many recent Rog Like games have not been a long time ago, and I have noticed that I did not have the fact that the player himself becomes strong. Therefore, I was a little surprised when it was said that this work is said to be old-fashioned Rogue Like from the person who played this work. But there is no dissatisfaction. I m glad to say that.
- Is there a work affected by this work?
JACK The biggest thing that has been affected is, of course, the Biohazard series. About a year before the development of this work started, I was addicted to the Biohazard series. Especially Biohazard (the first remake) and Biohazard 4. Several people in the team were also addicted at the same time. As I mentioned above, this work was originally made for Halloween contest, and it is one of the most famous horror game series, as it is the Biohazard series, so much inspiration from there I got it.
In terms of gameplay, I borrowed ideas from some other Rog Like game I played a lot in the childhood. Especially NUCLEAR THRONE. It is still a favorite of my favorite.
- Is there any plan to support Japanese work? Is it possible to translate?
Jack is now considering how localization is possible at any timing. I would like to speak Japanese in this work, but next year I will add a lot of content in the update. I think that it is better to start translating after all content is out, but it does not mean that something is fixed firmly.
- Did you have an impact on development by new coronavirus?
JACK Emperor, new Corona helps develop this work. On the time I started developing game development in August 2020, I wrote that the semester of the university will start, but because of the new corona, all lectures are 100% online It was. As I live at about 30 minutes by car from the campus, I have to go to the university in order to receive all the lectures, and if the time in the campus can not develop this work, Development of this work was not over yet.
